If you're on a tight budget, following these five easy steps, will not only help you find a diamond engagement ring you can afford but also an engagement ring you'll adore.
Step 1: Create a sensible budget.
This is one that should be clear, yet it's harder than it seems. Forget the conventional idea that you need to spend two months' worth of wages (obviously, those people weren't eating or paying rent). Instead, pick a budget that is reasonable and within your means.
A realistic budget is what? Diamonds are similar to cars, I guess. Whether you spend £100k or only a few hundred dollars, you will receive a car. Similar to this, a diamond that costs £500 is no more of a diamond than one that costs thousands of pounds. Just additional "features" are present.
If necessary, put some money aside for a few months, but avoid taking on debt for an engagement ring. That is the purpose of the wedding!
The bottom line is that an affordable engagement rings of good quality and reasonable price will cost at least £900. If a diamond (or a car) is being given to you for less than that, there's a strong probability it's an old junker. Choose the setting in the second step.

When on a tight budget, a diamond of the colors H or I is a great choice. The sole exception to this rule is if your diamond will be placed next to another that is more colorless (for example, in a setting with side stones), in which case the slight color tinge won't matter.
